Recent highlights:
Detection of widespread SH+ with APEX, demonstrating the
superb observation capabilities with APEX.
Detection of Interstellar Oxidaniumyl: Abundant H2O+ towards the
Star-forming Regions DR21, Sgr B2, and NGC6334. This is one of the earliest
results obtained with the high-resolution instrument HIFI on board of the
Herschel satellite. This molecular ion is a good indicator of the diffuse and
predominantly atomic interstellar medium. In denser regions, it reacts with H2
to H3O+ which forms H2O and OH upon dissociative
recombination.
The successful
description of the rotation-tunneling spectrum of monodeuterated hydronium
(H2DO+) in the submillimeter and infrared regions.
The determination of the
Mass of 17O from Penning-trap Mass Spectrometry and Molecular Spectroscopy:
A Precision Test of the Dunham-Watson Model in Carbon Monoxide.
Press release on the detection of
ethyl formate and n-propyl cyanide toward the massive star-forming region
Sagittarius B2(N).
Press release of the Max Planck Society on the detection of aminoacetonitrile toward
the massive star-forming region Sagittarius B2(N).
