These movies and interactive position-velocity cuts show the CII (ionized carbon) and CO 3-2 (carbon monoxide molecule) emission of the RCW79 HII region.
3D Position-velocity cuts of RCW79 in CII and 12CO 3-2
The x- and y- axis are the coordinates in offsets in arcmin, the z-axis is the velocity in km/s. The data were smoothed to an angular resolution of 30 arcsec and resampled on a grid of 15 arcsec. The velocity resolution is 1 km/s. The lowest color level starts for both maps at the 8 sigma level which is 2.2 K for CII and 0.56 K for 12CO 3-2.

The left panel shows the line integrated emission. The data was smoothed to an angular resolution of 20 arcsec and resampled on a grid of 8 arcsec. The velocity resolution is 1 km/s. The red straight line indicates the run of the cut. The start (0,0) is the lower bottom point for the vertical cuts and the left outermost point for the horizontal and inclided cuts. The linear color scale ranges from 0 to 200 K km/s with contours of 50 to 200 K km/s in steps of 50 K km/s. The red crosses indicate young stellar objects from Zavagno et al. (2006, Astronomy and Astrophysics 446, 171) and the white crosses the exciting stars of the central cluster (Martins et al. 2010, Astronomy and Astrophysics 510, 32).
The right panel displays on the y-axis the velocity in km/s and on the x-axis the offset in arcmin. The lowest color level starts at the 3 sigma level of 1.9 K for CII, the following contours are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 K. The color coding is stretched with sqrt(value) in order to better illustrate low surface brightness CII emission.
