As an astronomer, my research comprises the study of the process of formation of high-mass stars.
High-mass stars, with eight or more times the mass of our Sun, play a major role in shaping the morphological, dynamical, and chemical structure of their host galaxies, through strong ultraviolet radiation that can ionized the surrounding medium, via supersonic winds, and finally through supernovae explosions. Despite the crucial role of high-mass stars, their formation process is still one of the major astronomical problems to be understood. I study the first stages in the formation of high-mass stars by combining observations at different wavelengths (from infrared to millimeter and centimeter) with theoretical models. |
